My love I will eat You Alive
by Ruta Nujalyte

Velkommen til Vernissage fredag 20. oktober kl 18-22
Utstillingen står tom søndag 29. oktober

My love I will eat You Alive - it’s all about birds and feather-inspired creatures.
I am living in a part of the world where capitalism is threatening to commercialize every aspect of our lives, not excluding the most intimate ones. My work is a celebration of passionate love - a traumatic contingent encounter as opposed to a superficial consumerist attitude that offers us "love without the fall".

The collection consists of a series of textile jewelry, objects, poetry, prints, and film.

Together they form one piece of art which is an expression of passionate love.

Artist bio

I’m a professional textile artist, immersed in the captivating world of crochet.
With sewing thread as my canvas, I craft intricate, one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate the unique beauty of handwork. My expertise lies in three distinct lines: textile jewelry, soft sculpture, and digital textiles. Through these mediums, I weave tales of birds, mythical creatures, and fantastical stories, painted with vibrant hues that mirror my devotion to the expressive potential of textiles. At the heart of my creations lies intentional incompleteness, an invitation for viewers to step into the narrative.
This interplay between the unfinished and the imagined adds a compelling depth, inviting contemplation. Embracing the delicate dance between darkness and beauty, my pieces evoke a fragile yet enduring essence.

Recent milestones have etched a rewarding path in my journey. My artworks have graced esteemed global exhibitions, resonating with art lovers and peers alike.
A nomination for the prestigious BBA artist prize in 2022 underscored the impact of my innovative approach to crochet as an art form.

In essence, my identity as a textile artist is intricately woven with the art of crochet, using sewing thread as my medium. Through textile jewelry, soft sculpture, and digital
textiles, I orchestrate a symphony of colors and stories. Recent triumphs propel my passion for forging fresh creative paths, harnessing crochet's potential to reshape the art landscape.
