David Wilson aka Gauken is a 30 year old artist from Sandnes, Norway.
He currently lives in Oslo where he is studying art at Strykejernet Art School.
“I create my work without a plan. I feel my way and let the pictures tell me where I’m going, creating the human or animalistic entities that help me explore other dimensions. From the grotesque naïve creatures and exploding backgrounds, I hope you will get to know my inner demons.
The pictures are my expression of how I experience everyday life. How I perceive looks from other people, and how I communicate ideas I can’t express in words.
The lines are inherited from my mother; the hard, cold, Nordic that has been with us since before the Viking age. The lines are the common denominator that creates figures out of the abstract.
The colours are inherited from my father; the warm and passionate Jamaican palette.
Colours to me are representative of what I feel, the music I listen to and how I handle difficult situations with patience and understanding.”
